    Position overview

    Mikros animation is expanding and, in the process, is looking for generalist TDs to work with the layout, rigging, compositing, fx, lighting and animation departments on Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes. Our positions are based in London, and are looking with Pipeline TDs with experience mostly in either Maya (rigging) and/or Houdini (fx).

    Job description

    We are looking for people who will:
    • Work closely with the artists, providing them help with the current pipeline and tools
    • Troubleshoot CG software issues in a production environment
    • Help optimizing the existing workflow by improving tools and processes
    • Develop and support new pipeline tools following specific production demands.

    Competencies required

    The ideal candidate would have:
    • Strong experience in the CG industry with a strong understanding of the different steps involved in the creation of an animated movie
    • Advanced to expert user knowledge of one or more CG software especially Maya, and also Houdini, Katana, Mari, Photoshop, Arnold
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and debug in Python
    • Demonstrated UI development experience using PyQT or PySide
    • Desire to interact with artists to provide technical support
    • Advanced knowledge and experience in a particular department, e.g. layout / animation / rigging / lighting / compositing

    Project : Sherlock Gnomes

    Position overview

    Mikros Animation’s Paris & London studios are hiring for Senior Animators, for our feature animation project: Paramount’s Gnomeo and Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes.  The main responsibility of the position will be the animation of characters and props.

    Job description

    • Development and exploration of the characters, alongside Animation Director and Leads
    • To research acting references through recording your own and/or others’ acting, you will have rooms available for this purpose
    • To prepare shots for review in Shotgun, for Paris or London, prior to deadline
    • To focus on your shots and scenes, preparing them in readiness for dailies and reviews
    • To make any retakes or amendments as requested
    • To meet the animation quotas given by production

    Competencies required

    • We are looking for animators able to offer a certain finesse to the acting game, who can draw out the personality of the characters through acting, showing their internal wants and desires
    • Must have experience in 3D character animation, with a high-level of performance animation
    • Feature animation experience is a plus
    • Have a strong sense of posing and timing, and an excellent knowledge of animation, especially facial acting
    • Strong sensibility for physical believability

  • PRODUCTION COORDINATOR (M / F) ** urgent **

    Project : Captain Underpants

    Position overview

    Reporting directly to the production director and in direct contact with the supervision team, the coordinator is a key resource person for the production as he/she acts as a link between all the artists and the production.

    Job details

    • Follow-up and update shot statuses and artist targets in addition to being able to produce show status at all times
    • Maintain, update and follow up the shot list and activities of her/his department
    • Evaluate with the Line producer, Supervisor and the artists’ targets, quotas and objectives
    • Organize, attend, and manage dailies and review meetings, take notes of all relevant information and distribute them to the concerned crew and artists

    Position overview

    Within a cartoony undisclosed and very challenging project, we are looking for an experienced Lead Animator who will manage an animator’s team as well as animate his own shots. Your primary responsibility will be the animation of all assigned characters and props. We are looking for artists with a strong sense of design in their poses and an aptitude for facial animation and lip sync while maintaining strong fundamentals in weight and body mechanics.

    • Work with the Animation director and the leads to create stylized performance and meet the vision of the director
    • Manage, mentor and assess technically and artistically a multi levels animators’ team in creating their key-frame animation

    Mikros Animation’s London studio is hiring for Final Set Dressers  for our new feature animation project: Paramount’s Gnomeo and Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes. We are looking for artists of all levels including those with proven leadership experience and those at the early stages of their career.

    Job description

    • Deliver the final polished shot-wise set-dressing with an eye for composition and storytelling.
    • Establish and maintain continuity between sequences and shots - both for our mono and stereo release.
    • Adjust Model and Surfacing of set-dressing elements and create simple props from scratch as required.
    • Camera sweetening tasks to enhance final output.
    • Work closely with the lighting/compositing and stereo departments to guarantee the best results.

    Competencies required

    Position overview

    Mikros Image is looking for a Maya Rigger for Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes. The Rigger will be responsible for building robust and efficient rigs, and working with the Rigging team based in Paris to implement and support these rigs.

    Job description

    • Creating and developing fast elegant character rigs using Maya and proprietary tools
    • Working with modeling and animation departments to facilitate articulate, realistic and appealing characters
    • Work with the CG team implementing the rigs and rigging the assets, integrating of characters and rigs into the production pipeline
    • Design and implement scripted solutions for maximum speed and efficiency of rigging
    • Work with leads and supervisors in the testing of rigged assets
    • During production, support all the rigged assets
    • Creating User Interfaces and tools to assist animators

    Competencies required

    • Proficiency in Maya
    • Must have experience as a rigger on some high-budget feature film productions

    Position overview

    The effects supervisor is responsible for leading a team of FX Artists in the creation and execution of effects such as particle systems, fluids, dust, destruction, smoke/fire, cloth and simulations.

    Job details

    • Supervise the Effects team by developing looks and giving direction, including aesthetic and methodological and technical
    • Ensure the desired effects are created on time, on budget and at the level of quality and standards requested by the CG Supervisor, the Director and the Art Director
    • Address technical issues, identify best practices and approaches as needed
    • Work closely with production to ensure the desired effects are delivered and that deadlines are met
