    Position overview

    Mikros Animation Montreal is looking for Production assistants for its new animated feature ‘SpongeBob SquarePants movie’ (Paramount). The main responsibility will be to work day by day, on the floor with the artist, organize the meetings, and follow the advancement of the work, daily reporting to the production coordinator the status of the department and if there is any issue or lack of inventory.  

    Responsibilities

      Tracking  
    • Assist the Production coordinator to ensure all Shotgun statuses are up to date at all times, either during reviews, either immediately out of the review.
    • Hold rounds with the team
    • Maintain the crew planning file (with sickness/holidays/country/start and end date)
    • Update and maintain contact list for the department.
    • Ensure the team have all that they need to hit upcoming milestones/Deliveries and help to chase upstream departments for dependencies.
      Review  
    • Set up review and Dailies sessions and take notes when required by the coordinator.
    • Prepare the room / the playlists and gather the team to ensure that everybody is there on time
      Reporting  
    • Daily reporting back any delays/concerns to the production coordinator and team supervisor/leads
     

    Competencies

    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel software
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English
      Additionnal skills  
    • Good organizational and project monitoring skills
    • Ability to demonstrate ability to grasp priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to changes during production

  • RIGGING ARTIST (M/F) ** urgent **

    Position overview

      Who’s ready? Mikros Animation Montréal is now in production on the new SpongeBob SquarePants movie.  We are looking for a Rigging artist to join our team of incredible talents!  The Rigging Artist is responsible for designing and maintaining a smooth and efficient rig for CG assets. He or she must have a strong understanding of CG pipelines and production methods and a strong management style with excellent organizational and artistic skills   

    Responsabilities

       
    • Work with the Rigging Lead/Supervisor to establish a rig that fully supports an animation style that reflects the tone of the film, and maintain the style throughout the film;  
    • Work to create top quality body and facial rigs that meet the desired quality and style; 
    • Work closely with the Animation Team to ensure that the productions’ needs are understood and met, and that animators have fast, efficient, intuitive puppets; 
    • Create and adjust rigging standards; 
    • Provide creative ideas and solutions for the film on both a visual and technical level; 
    • Be a key contributor to create an engaging animated film of top quality, while managing and reducing the complexities of production; 
    • Be able to flag and solve potential  problems to stay on schedule;   
    • Good knowledge in anatomy. 
       

    Competencies

     
    • 5+ years of experience working in the animation industry as a Rigging artist; 
    • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of CG, pipeline and associated software/plugins; 
    • Experience in a variety of Maya rigging techniques, and the ability to optimize performance of rigs; 
    • Advanced hero character rigging experience with a Maya based pipeline; 
    • Must be able to take direction;

    Position overview

    Who’s ready? Mikros Animation Montréal is working on the new SpongeBob SquarePants movie.    We are looking for production coordinators to join our incredibly talented team!  Reporting directly to the Line Producer and Production Manager and in direct contact with the department supervisor, the coordinator is a key resource person for the production as he/she acts as a link between all the artists and the production. 

    Responsabilities

      Scheduling 
    • Maintain and update the department’s schedule in-line with global schedule/milestones. 
    • Fill the Weekly Target document from the department schedule 
    • Keep artists and supervisors up to date with schedule changes/updates to production – client notes, shot changes, modifications – and evaluate impact on current work/Schedule.  
    • Work with the supervisors to problem solve issues with the department which may affect the schedule. 
      Bidding  
    • Work with the producers and Supervisors to evaluate artists’ targets, quotas and objectives. Ensuring all Artists are aware of daily/Weekly Targets.  
      Tracking 
    • Daily approval of teams timelogs and Track them ⇒ Time Spent Relative to time budgeted 
    • Update and maintain shot / asset statuses 
    • Daily update start and end dates and artist targets in shotgun 
    • Fill and update assets bids accordingly to client’s notes.  
    • Responsible to hit shots quotas or to fit into the assets Allowances 
    • Ensuring Shotgun is fully maintained to manage flow of information and transfer of information/work between upstream and downstream departments.  
    • To ensure that the upstream department is delivering on time or anticipate any delays. 
    • Always follow up with downstream departments to ensure they have received the correct information/deliveries from your department.  
      Review 
    • Organize, attend, and manage dailies and review meetings, take notes and upload to shotgun. Distribute to department crew and relevant production/Sups accordingly.  
    • Hold Rounds to ensure that the artists have all the necessary information/assets to hit milestones.  
    • Prepare the Review Agenda the day before the review and send it to the client 
      Reporting 
    • Fill the Weekly Report / Anticipate potential problems and production delays and alert producers/supervisors accordingly. 
    • Quotas weekly report to line Producers / Production manager 
     

    Competencies

    • Production coordinator experience, ideally in feature animation
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
    • High attention to detail, with very strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage conflicts
    • Proven scheduling experience

Mikros Animation Montréal is currently in production on the new SpongeBob SquarePants movie.  Mikros Animation Montreal is looking for a Compositing TD, specializing in Nuke compositing to join the TD Team.   Under the responsibility of the Head of Pipeline, the Compositing TD creates and maintains a diverse set of tools, with a focus on improving its efficiency for artists and production management.  He/She also works directly with Compositing Supervisor, artists and production management to assess technical needs and support.    

    Competencies required

      Under the responsibility of the TD Lead, your main missions will be:  
    • Develop / adapt the existing Compositing and Matte-Painting pipeline 
    • Determine, design, document and maintain re-usable code modules 
    • Guide and help team members to master our tools

    Profile

      Minimum Qualifications:  
    • 2-3+ years experience as TD Nuke in the Anim/VFX industry

    Responsabilities

      Following instructions from the Lead and Supervisor, the compositing artist is responsible for ensuring high-quality shots. He/she will integrate 3D scenes respecting technical rules and the artistic vision of the project.   The Compositor is responsible for seamlessly integrating all layers and elements of a shot as well as shot finaling. The Compositor must have a strong artistic eye and be able to effectively communicate with the animation director, team supervisor and art director.    Responsibilities   
    • Integrate all 3D elements and maintain continuity throughout a sequence using artistic and technical skills. 
    • Perform digital composition tasks at all production stages, including color correction, matte painting, relighting, etc. 
    • Work with Lead and Supervisor to determine creative and technical approaches. 
    • Ensure that the required retakes are considered and follow up. 
    • Meet productivity and quota targets. 
    • Prepare elements for reviews via Shotgun. 
    • Maintain good teamwork and team dynamic.
     

    Competencies

     
    • Compositing experience on 4+ feature films with Nuke (animated feature films preferred). 
    • Strong knowledge of Nuke. 
    • Excellent artistic, design skills and a good eye for color.

    Responsabilities

      Respecting the incredible artistic identity of the well-known SpongeBob SquarePants show, the Lead Lighting will be responsible for managing his/her team of lighting artists and works closely with the CG Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor and Production Directors. Your main tasks will be:
    •  Implement the department's technical solutions in collaboration with the Lighting Supervisor and the Image CG Supervisor

      In the context of the development of its animation projects, Mikros Animation Paris and Montreal are looking for a Line Producer.   The Line Producer is a key member of the production team.   He/She manages the production budget, hires and manages key members of the team, while negotiating with the HR, agreements with the artists.   He/She works closely with the Directors, Executive Producer, Artistic Director, CG Supervisor and Heads of Department to manage changes in planning and budget along the way.   During production, he/she is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the activities and ensures the respect of deliverables, deadlines and costs.   The Line Producer reports to the Head of production of Mikros Animation and directly supervises a team of production managers and coordinators in charge of the manufacturing departments.  

    Responsabilities

     
    • Provide and adapt frequently a detailed project delivery plan to the executive producer and supervisors
    • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports on the outstanding amount and the balance to be produced
    • Plan studio resources to create an effective approach to CG work
    • Build and operate in cooperation with the relevant head of departments a production strategy to guarantee delivery and quality (quota plan / approval charts and reports / …).
    • Ensure that the team understands the objectives and delivery dates of the sequences, research and development projects, etc.
    • Work closely with supervisors to ensure the work schedule is on track and meet quality standards.
     

    Competencies

     
    • A minimum of 5+ years of experience as project manager in CG Animation or VFX.
    • Experience as a producer within a production-oriented environment.

      In the context of the development of its animation projects, Mikros Animation Paris and Montreal are looking for a Line Producer.   The Line Producer is a key member of the production team.   He/She manages the production budget, hires and manages key members of the team, while negotiating with the HR, agreements with the artists.   He/She works closely with the Directors, Executive Producer, Artistic Director, CG Supervisor and Heads of Department to manage changes in planning and budget along the way.   During production, he/she is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the activities and ensures the respect of deliverables, deadlines and costs.   The Line Producer reports to the Head of production of Mikros Animation and directly supervises a team of production managers and coordinators in charge of the manufacturing departments.  

    Responsabilities

     
    • Provide and adapt frequently a detailed project delivery plan to the executive producer and supervisors
    • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports on the outstanding amount and the balance to be produced
    • Plan studio resources to create an effective approach to CG work
    • Build and operate in cooperation with the relevant head of departments a production strategy to guarantee delivery and quality (quota plan / approval charts and reports / …).
    • Ensure that the team understands the objectives and delivery dates of the sequences, research and development projects, etc.
    • Work closely with supervisors to ensure the work schedule is on track and meet quality standards.
     

    Competencies

     
    • A minimum of 5+ years of experience as project manager in CG Animation or VFX.
    • Experience as a producer within a production-oriented environment.
    • Experience in project management with Shotgun software or similar is considered as a great asset.
    • Good understanding of CG processes.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Experience in team management, negotiation and budget management.
    • Experience on an animated feature film is a strong asset
    • A good knowledge of Excel and project management software are valuable for this position

    Responsibilities

     
    • Assist the Head of Production in the development of production strategy.

    Responsabilities

      Your primary responsibility will be the animation and performances of all assigned characters and props. We are looking for artists with a strong sense of design, an aptitude for facial animation and lip sync while maintaining strong fundamentals in weight, cartoony animation concepts as well as body mechanics.   
    • Work with the storyboard / animatic / layout and create feature level, key-framed animation;
    • Working in continuity with shot before and after;
    • Work with animation quotas given by the production;
    • Work closely with Animation Leads and Director to bring the film to life;  
    • Prepare elements for presentation in dailies and rounds for approval;
